Road trips are awesome. In college, a couple buddies and I drove from Minnesota to Black Hills, Yellowstone, then Glacier National Park. This was when Coors was unpasteurized and regionally distributed. We drank a ton of that on the trip as it was a truly special beer. (Now it tastes like any other mainstream beer.) That was a long time ago, but still the best road trip of my life.
I think I spent a total of about $200 on the 8 day trip, beer being about $50. We slept in tents or in fields or ditches on the way there and back. Ate sandwiches, etc.

South of Lafayette to Omaha in 2009 for the CWS. Three kids, myself and husband. We all survived. Lol.
Best. Trip. Ever. The kids still talk about how great it was. They were 16, 11, 8 at the time.

Made this trip with my parents when I was a kid several times. We spent time in the UP for a couple of summers.

One time I drove from San Jose to Eufaula, OK straight through. 26 hours on the I-40. Boring drive. I did the same drive to Huntsville the year. Having money to sleep in hotels each made it much more pleasant.

Longest drive without tapping out 800 miles. Without stopping but for gas and food 35 hours, 1900 miles for a move dragging a car and dogs.
