Friend of ours lives on Ridge Road in Ascension and they still have feet of water in front of their house. No water got in the house, but parts of the street and their yard are still underwater, so the really can't get in and out of their house unless they are in an ATV.

Is the water stuck there? Is it just natural drainage taking a while? I'm not familiar with the topography and hydrology of the area.

Good question.

A decent driver can get through on Bluff Rd, but dick cop has decided that none of us are.

Meanwhile... crickets...

Some buttholes from Livingston were filling dumptrucks with their flood water and then ILLEGALLY dumping it off of Bluff Rd instead of at the landfill in Sorrento. Police didn't catch them until it was too late..

Exactly. I've been going through it all week then yesterday they want to close it back as the water has gone down even more. Stupid.

What I'm hearing is there are two creeks/bayous fighting to empty in to bayou manchac that then has to drain into the amite. Just a boat load of water to move.

It's called a basin.
That means there is no way for the water to move out of the basin unless it is pumped which takes too long or controlled cuts which is what they are doing. It will take about a month to remove all the water.
Progress is being made but in some areas the water is still high. It will take time.
A lot of people can thank the Spanish Lake Basin for preventing flooding of homes outside of the basin!
Yeah, it sucks for those in the basin but that is the risk of living there.
