Seems like a shitshow over there right now. Anyone know what's up?

They found out that the OT has been stealing all their material.

They 'let go' a mod named Victoria who was largely in charge of conducting the AMA interviews. She apparently was pretty legit, so people are pissed. Some even boycotting

It goes beyond that.

Ask Me Anything interviews. Usually with celebrities or source matter experts. Pretty good reads.

It's going the way of Digg. Reddit will be slowly abandonded over the next year or quicker.
It started a while back when they began banning any material they deemed "offensive". Now they're firing staff that actually contribute, and ignoring mod feedback. It's starting to cater to it's advertisers, not it's userbase. It's own mods are starting to leave.
Voat.co will be its replacement.

The "everything goes" website has finally been hit with censoring and corporate greed. Nothing can survive forever without rules, and unfortunately millions of Reddit users are starting to find out that harsh reality and revolting

People take the internet way too seriously. Sad.

If they think they can't get an admin to explain things over there they would love it here.

They need to hurry up and fix it. Where will the OT get its weeks old topics to discuss?

they fired someone who was responsible for a frick ton of their traffic. they had no replacement for her, so all upcoming AMA interviews are on hold. one agent was saying his client flew into NYC specifically to do an AMA and now he's shite out of luck. it's fricked over about 5 subreddits, so they went private so they could sort everything out then relaunch.
this along with Ellen pao's new regime censoring content on a website that was founded with a motto of free speech for all has made the mods of popular default subs to go private in "solidarity" with the ones who got fricked.
Not sure how this is "taking the Internet too seriously."

voat will last for a few years then become just like reddit and digg if they even actually hit it big. they will cater to the money (ads) soon enough.

Apparently some people think this has to do with the Jesse Jackson AMA. He got grilled
quote:
Mr. Jackson,
You are an immoral, hate-filled race baiter that has figured out how to manipulate the political system for your own gain. You've personally set back race relations year after year and continue to do more harm than good. Extorting money from companies to line your pockets and threatening to bus in protestors and create a fake racial controversy if they don’t agree to pay you off is NOT civil rights activism. My question is simple; how is your relationship with the illegitimate child you fathered in 1998 while cheating on your wife? Bonus question: How much money have you extorted from various people and companies over the years of practicing your shakedown scheme? Do you think Al Capone would be jealous of your business model if he were still alive?
