Diamonds are a complete scam, I had one appraised for 40k when I went to upgrade it I was offered 8. They are not an investment at all. They are like a new car the depreciates 50% a year right after you buy it. Watch the special on Debeers

Not for the reason(s) you think.

And slow down there, Mr Rockefeller: save some pussy for the rest of us.

This is the way.

Online sites are legit these days and if you aren't satisfied you can return it. You'll easily save 15-20%.

Setting it in a local shop gives you a little better quality setting and the opportunity to develop a relationship with someone local if you want to make changes.

The natural vs lab grown debate really depends on your budget, size preference and how much value you want it to hold.

Emeralds or sapphires are far more spectacular as an engagement ring than diamonds, lab grown or not.

Gold is better than the other metals.

Also, some women judge each other by rings... If you have that type of wife. If that's the type you are marrying, find another one. You will be miserable the rest of your life because you will never have enough.

bullshite you’re lucky to get 50% of what you paid on a real diamond if you sell it

Diamonds and new cars depreciate faster than anything from the minute you buy it

Get the ring that's appropriate for your future wife. Don't get some massive cheap lab grown diamond and slap it on some dainty woman's finger.

A 1 carat diamond is plenty big enough for most petite women.

From a girl: my jeweler just told me that standards were recently changed: a lab-grown can now be marketed as a “diamond”. This has (for now anyway), tanked resale diamond prices…. Thankfully that part is not your concern, but still good to know as you shop around.

What I prefer are “old mine-cut“ diamonds. Well before this new development, I’ve admired their elegant beauty. They have a deep sparkle from within, & are a slightly darker white.

You can find them on places like eBay, even set in old rings etc., & have re-set. Of course, your bride’s opinion is crucial! Plus you need a trusted jeweler’s guidance.

Just thought I’d present this option.

I have heard that. Jeweler said natural diamond can be sold back at a good price. Lab grown won’t be able to be sold later.

“A good price” huh? Notice he did not cite a percentage.

If you’re ever in a position to sell back a lab grown, not finding a buyer is the nice problem to have for a stone that already paid for itself.

Small ring. Small wedding. Put the saved money as a down payment on a house.

Absolutely true.

Like others have, Mayne you'll get 25%.

IDK if lab-grown are worse than that, but probably...

Do not listen to any of these idiots. Get a real diamond. Find a GIA certified dealer. Most of them will do what is called a grow a diamond program. Basically if 5 years down the road she wants a bigger one you can bring it back at the price you bought it for a an upgrade you just pay the difference. Women do not want a lab grown diamond.

I went with a 1.75k Moissanite on a 18k gold band with 18K wedding ring. She was very happy with my choice vs a smaller real diamond.
