Its just a crazy situation because the NBA can't really do anything about it and by fans boycotting the team, they are hurting the players and coaches that did nothing wrong. So it'll really be interesting to see how the whole situation shakes out.

If the Clippers season ends after this series, this will be a non issue. No one will be talking about this by the end of the offseason. Not even Wilbon and Stephen A.

They can choose to not support the owner, but by doing that they turn their backs on the team and coaches that need their support.
Not surprising. I said that a couple of pages back:
quote:

I'm guessing it'll be along the lines of "We shouldn't hold the players accountable for what the owner said".

And this is why people want the league to do something about it; they're too lazy and/or cowardly to do it on their own, which means they don't care nearly as much as they're pretending to.

I don't understand why the gf isn't getting more backlash over the tape. It's obvious as to why she recorded him. She was leading him to say racist remarks. What was the point? Blackmail?

This exactly. I am not saying what is said is not 100% wrong, but it seems to me in listening to the tape she is for sure setting him up, you can just tell in her voice and responses. I think it must have a lot to do with the lawsuit Sterling's wife has against her/leverage.

It's interesting to me how strongly society reacts to the idiotic remarks made by an insecure old man. He made a series of ignorant, racist remarks and should be humiliated. He will probably be heavily reprimanded financially, banned from games, etc., but when a basketball star.....say.....physically assaults their wife, punches a fan in the face, or worse they are allowed to play again. Words vs. physical violence.

Is that fair?

Yep. Everyone needs to ask themselves if they have ever made any disparaging/racist remarks against any group of people in private...then judge. I would guess almost everyone has.

Heavy financial reprimand, game bans, isn't that exactly what happens to players that beat their wives and/or punch fans in the face? I don't see your point.

They don't get thrown out of the NBA and Sterling won't be banned from the NBA. People are still allowed to have their opinions that they want them gone, just as I'm sure there are fans that would want misfit players gone.

I'm saying that those two acts do not deserve equal punishment. Words vs. physical violence? Would you rather be spoken about negatively by an insecure elderly man or be punched in the face by Metta World Peace? Do those two acts deserve the same punishment?

He is a self-made billionaire so I think it is fair to say that a large percentage of people in the world are inferior to him.

Wow. Just wow. Glad to know you associate an owner making racist comments along the same lines as players committing violent crimes and domestic abuse. Yup, youre right, the deserve the SAME punishement because they are EXACTLY the same.

Some other nonsensical bullshite. People that get offended by words are thin skinned weak minded simpletons. Plain and simple.

Any of you on here, that were "shocked" or "offended" need to get a hobby. Newsflash. Some people in the world are racist. So what? Is that illegal? Are people to now be arrested for their own prejudices? And since when is words more egregious than wife beaters?

I guess if you let your race define who you are as a person, then you will get offended by every little thing someone thinks in their mind. Personally, there is not 1 word or phrase another human can say to me that will cause me to lose sleep. It's called being secure in who you are as a person. Anyone who is offended by this is simply an insecure little whiny bitch that probably can't hack it in the real world.

How long have you been a racist? Did it come from your grandparents?
