I nearly drowned in the waters off Makapu'u Beach in Hawaii in 2016. I got caught in a rip tide and swimming sideways wasn't helping because I was right where the waves were breaking. I was being spun around like I was in a washing machine. Thankfully my friend floated over to me, caught the top of a wave, and I grabbed onto him as he got pushed back toward the shore. Another minute or two and I would have been a goner.

1.) I had a brain tumor removed as a high-schooler in 2007. Even though it was successfully removed, I have lived with seizures. I've crashed my car twice, all within the past three years, due to my epilepsy. On my most recent wreck, my wife (girlfriend at the time)(no pics) was in the passenger seat and was totally cool, calm and collected and was able to throw the car into park and stop the car about 20 feet short of a tree after I had veered off-road..
2.) My apartment was hit by the Tuscaloosa tornado. It clipped the far end of the units across the way from me, but missed us enough to not cause much damage but destroyed everything across the street. I took this photo as it approached:

1. 7 yr old me ran across street toward toy store.
car hit me and knocked me down. he had braked. not even a bruise.
2. lightning about 4 feet to my right.
12 yr old self bolted for cover and one hit in front of me. did not piss myself.
3. 18 yr old sober me driving knicked door handles at 55 mph.
my passenger never rode with me again.

Mid 70's, single and ran into an old girlfriend while out one night. She was married with 2 kids, but that didn't stop her from wanting to pick up things between us----yeah I know, BAD move on my part.
After a few weeks of meeting up and enjoying some carnal exploits I woke up one morning, got dressed and was heading out to work. Almost in my car and I hear a familiar series of clicks behind me, turn around and there's her husband with a .38 pointed at my head.
His warning was "See how easily it could happen. If I hear of you with my wife again, you won't get another warning, just a bullet to the head".
Needless to say, that ended that folly.
After a few weeks of meeting up and enjoying some carnal exploits I woke up one morning, got dressed and was heading out to work. Almost in my car and I hear a familiar series of clicks behind me, turn around and there's her husband with a .38 pointed at my head.

Got my leg tangled up in the rope of a discarded anchor while underwater. I fought to get it off of my leg and then a feeling of "I'm not going to make it" set in.
I think about it every time I jump in the water in the lake now.

Was driving through Knoxville a few years ago when an oncoming 18 wheeler lost a tire that sailed right over the hood of my car. Draw a line from the back of my left headlight to the right back of my hood. Missed my windshield by less than a foot. Had no time to even react.

I almost died twice in 5 minutes. When I was a wee lad, I pulled out into the street on my Big Wheel without looking first. An old couple almost hit me. I never saw a thing. I just heard my dad yelling at me when I stopped at the bottom of the hill. When I got back up to our house, my dad was talking to the couple and the woman was crying her eyes out. They were on their way home from their grandson’s funeral who had been hit while riding a motorcycle. My dad almost beat me to death when we went in the house.

Woke up choking from an allergic reaction. Throat and uvula swelled restricting my airway. I was flailing around trying to breathe until I figured out hanging my head low allowed me to breathe
Paramedics rushed in, hit me with an epipen and I was good after that.

I hit 6 IEDs in Iraq. Many fire fights. Almost crashed in Germany when our landing gear on the plane wouldn't lock out. Hit a telephone pole with my truck at 16. Been married to two crazy bitches. Missed a bridge entirely once when driving shite arse drunk in Port Gibson, MS leaving Nukie's strip club in 1996. Had to pull my reserve in 99 when I was in the 82nd.
