Lots of people here make tons of money, obviously, so I'd imagine quite a few of you flew on a Concorde before it was retired in 2003.

How was it? How did the thrust feel during takeoff? What was it like to travel at 1,354 mph at 60,000 ft?

There was a big bump at takeoff and flames started shooting out of the rear. We crashed a little bit later.

I used to Conc the big pond when I wanted some good fish and chips. It had a weird vibration that made it difficult to doze on the way, and you arrived at weird hours. Now that we have the Euro, it's easier to do business with the far East.

Noticed a couple of things very quickly - you sat much higher above the ground than in other aircraft, and the windows and legroom were tiny. I'm not a big fellow myself (of course I'm enormous between the legs but I'm talking height here) and normally have no problems with legroom aboard airliners. This plane did not offer much in the way of legroom.

Takeoff and landing weren't that much different than usual other than that you're higher off the ground so the rotation felt a little different. Thrust wasn't that much different either, it's just that the plane didn't stop climbing or going faster until it hit around 57k feet. At that altitude the sky is darker and the Earth's curvature becomes noticeable if you could squint through those tiny windows.

Another difference was that there were plenty of passengers who to some degree or another were internationally famous. The customer service was of course second to none.

Back in the 90's it flew into Tampa International Airport for some reason. when it came in, the city literally came to a complete stop to watch it. It was really amazing to see. People just stopped on the side of the roads and watched it come in. Same for the take off.
