Woody Dumas was mayor.

He tried to improve downtown when he was mayor - I was not around then but that’s what I’ve heard from older locals

I think he had good intentions.

So did Kip. I'm not a Democrat by a pretty wide margin but I do think he was more concerned with making the city better than playing partisan politics.

Cortana Mall opened August 1976. I thought it was a couple of years earlier. I went to the state fair there a couple of years when there was only dirt and no construction.

The Who concert that I saw at the PMAC was in the fall of 1975. It was packed, but the people were well behaved. I still have a Super 8 film of it. No sound and they only run about 4 minutes. The tapes are in my closet, but have not been viewed for least 40 years.

The Led Zep concert that I saw at the PMAC was spring of 1975. The Superdome concert in 1977 was cancelled due to the death of Robert Plant’s son. I still have two tickets for that at my parent’s house.

Yes he did. It’s unfortunate as to what is happening now.

When did they change the driving age?

Around 98 I believe. I’m pretty sure my age group was the first one to have to wait until 16. It sucked.

We could get a permit at 14 and we also didn't have to go to these expensive driving schools. I took driver's Ed during the summer at school and it was taught by my PE coach.

The drinking age was changed from 18 to 21 right around my 18th birthday though and we didn't have Tops either.

Damn, I lived in BR/LSU throughout most of the 90s and never went much less heard of it or if I heard it didn’t register. Was it decent?

It was a fairly small amusement park across the street from Cortana on Airline right by where Academy is now. It was a blast as a kid. I had several birthday parties there.

I believe the owners eventually moved it to where Blue Bayou is now.

It was a fun place to go Saturday night in the 80s. We'd toss cigarettes and roaches to the monkey.

I don't really remember ever going after the mid to late 80s but we went a lot as kids. I remember when someone died on the Wild Mouse ride.

I remember seeing Pot Liquor at the Speak Easy. I might have been 15 . E.L.Saturday’s was hopping when it first opened. Tabby’s had those ice cold fish bowl goblets for 50 cents on Wed. Mike Anderson’s had the gas station with oyster specials on Highland. Sojourners was down town and Disco was big . I hated it but I was willing to shake my arse for the ladies.

Fun fair park was the name.

I wonder if that stewardess for Delta in 1976 at the Delta booth outside Sears during the Cortana mall Grand Opening is still around.
She was a nice looking young lady that I was trying to make moves on.
