This looks to be a pure black lab. One of my brothers has two blacks and this little pup looks like his. I hope this puppy gets a chance, he/she will be a good dog to whoever brings her up and loves him/her.

Eyes of a stone cold killer.

Looks like you've found yourself a new puppy. I vote that you don't even wait for someone to claim him.

The only way to know if a dog is purebred is to look at the pedigree.

FWIW, the ideal black lab is a solid color, but the breed standard allows a very small small amount of white fur.

You're the savage for wanting to maim someone for not taking care of a dog.

The worlds gone mad.

Did it have that collar on it when yall found it?
Could very well be a case of neglect, but I've found and returned enough dogs to hear countless stories of "the kids left the door open" and " he dug out from under the fence".
I'd put some found dog signs ip or better yet look around for lost dog signs.
I've found and recovered emaciated dogs worse looking than him and now they are super dogs now.
Good luck. And a thank you to your family for lending a helping hand to the little pup.

Facebook often has local lost dog groups and there may be lost dog organizations near the OP as well. There are here anyway. They helped me find the owner of a stray.

Goofy snowflake. Maybe the dog owner has never suffered a blow to the nose from a fist. It'll do him good. You probably need one too.

The type that needs love and attention. Will be loyal to you until the day he/she dies. Beautiful animal despite the mistreatment.

ETA: I would take that ragmuffin in a heartbeat. Would be an awesome pet.

A docked tail isn't a breed trait. It's just a tail that has been cut off. Any breed can have one.

This. The fricker that didn't feed this dog doesn't deserve to claim him

If he turns on you then obviously it's a pit bull. If it stays good then it's a lab. Isn't that how it works?

Feed him and get him shots and he will probably be a loyal pet.

If he was neglected from his first owner and not just starving because he ran off, it's not a probably. Guarantee he will be a loyal pet
