Trudy's for Tex Mex (the one by campus). Food is solid. They limit you to two of the Mexican martinis. There is a reason. And they are excellent.

Play golf? Want to play a beautiful course that will eat you alive? Wolf Dancer in Cedar Creek.

Stay away from dirty 6th unless you have built up a tolerance for venereal diseases.

I second Luciles.

And they got bangers next door. Duck sausage on bun with figs.

I know there's higher ranked BBQ joints in Austin, but I have really enjoyed Salt Lick everytime we've gone.
Driftwood Estate Winery is a really cool vineyard to visit. Try to find a bottle of Ghostrider wine from Chisholm Trail Winery.
The Hill of Life is fun hike and swim in the middle of Austin. I would also recommend Hamilton Pool, beautiful place to swim.

I thought people went to austin to get away from delusional saints fans.

What better way to meet some Saints fans who know the area? They could tell you all the good places to go visit.

My sister and I once set out for some tacos, accidentally wrecked into the median on riverside, abandoned ship and zombie walked to al pastor.

Go watch the bats fly out from under the bridge at sunset, bring a BB gun and piss off the liberals. Two-fer Tuesday.

But he already has that here . I wouldn't necessarily want to travel to a place to meet up with people from where I come from.

I hate to rip on Shoal Creek, but the place leaves much to be desired. I wish it was more like Evangeline Cafe. It doesn't FEEL like home other than on game days when it's full of Tiger fans. The food is not very good and their boiled crawfish are disappointing. I realize that most restaurants have to use the ice chest method, but they are terrible at it.
