Does not matter which one but I will speak from Audi experience…as op said maintenance is high…if she is leasing or just keeping a few years while covered fine…
I keep my cars for the duration.. once out of the new sale coverage the minor fixes and major fixes can get pricey…
I have had Audis for many years.. presently have a q5 and a7… keeping the a7 cause my wife likes it and now put about 1500 miles on a years.. the q5 drives nice but at some point switching to a more maintenance cost friendly vehicle since it is my traveling car..
I would avoid all three of those.

We have a 2019 Q7. Can't think of any issues we've had. Maintenance is high, but if you know it going in, it shouldn't be an issue.

German. Maintenance will eat her lunch.
For 36k and 36 months the BMW is free. If she is actually paying for maintenance (maybe not based on the tax issue in the OP) she can find a local Indy shop that specializes in the brand she chooses and save a lot of money. Wedge Keyes in BR for BMW is an easy choice for example.
I have owned at least one German car for the last 30 years and have never taken them to the dealership for anything but complimentary maintenance or repairs/TBs/recalls.

I’ve actually had all 3 recently. I had issues with both BMW’s (x5) and will never own another BMW. Audi also developed issues and unlikely to own. Passed down both Mercedes to kids and they went past 200,000 miles with no issues. Currently have a Lexus but would have no concerns with a Mercedes based on my personal experience.

There are a lot of things the German 4 do better than the Japanese (and vice versa) it just matters what your priorities are.

I had a Mercedes and it was the absolute biggest piece of shite I ever owned. Stay clear of a Mercedes. The new GX550 will be awesome and will be worth something to her in 3-5 years, when she's ready for another vehicle.

Not being broke down and spending thousands of dollars on maintenance. German cars aren't what they used to be.

Everyone I know who has owned a European car has to varying degrees regretted it. Go with Lexus. I've had a couple and got one over 400k miles with minimal repairs needed.

Had an X5…if keeping past 60,000 miles gets a gold or platinum extended service contract….at 50,000 miles things start to get expensive…you’ll need valve cover gaskets which you just as soon lump in with the spark plugs required at 60k and if you also need brakes and tires at the same time, the bill can get high

I can't recall any friends german cars making 75k miles without major issues.

Not sure about the BMW X5 but we have the X7 and absolutely love it. No personal experience with Audi but we do have experience with Mercedes and I would steer clear. Mercedes has gone down the shitter.

I think the 24 GX comes out early 2024. Lexus also has the new TX
Lexus TX

Anecdotal info is nice but rather useless. Also assigning reliability just on manufacturer is tricky too unless it is Toyota/Lexus. You really have to try to get statistical data for specific models and years.
The problem with the above is no 2024 X5 data available and it could be significantly different since the '24 is a MMR (mid-model refresh).
Depending on how you "rate" cars the CR reviews may be of less importance than say R&T, C&D, and Motortrend because CR values utility and safety more than driver involvement and performance.
For what it is worth (as I said you have to delve deeper than this) the most recent CR reliability ratings by manufacturer. This changes every year outside of Lexus and Toyota always being entrenched at the top. The way they stay there is being behind on tech. We own two non-DD cars and they are both Lexus because we tend to keep them longer than our DDs and don't care that they are driving appliances and behind on tech even when we bought them. Neither of us would WANT to drive one as a daily but we are looking for a different experience.

IME/IMO Consumer Reports puts out the least biased and most useful reliability information of any source except maybe spending a lot of time on model-specific forums using a mental confirmation bias filter.

I’ve owned two X5’s and have been generally happy. The current X5 is a 2014 and I’m looking to for a newer model (2024). I’m considering Land Rover and my mechanic at Motorworks by Dallas in Mandeville said, “Don”t do it. Stick with BMW. Look onside on our lot right now. We repair more Land Rovers than any other luxury brand.”
That’s all I’ve got.
