I think the LSU media guide lists your collegiate best at 14:10.

Uh Oh.... Actually, I remember the track staff passed out a questionnaire to us one year asking for our PRs at LSU so they could update the media guide and official school record book.....I ran back before digital records existed. I can't remember what I put down back then either.

if you think running is good for your knees good for you. I know people that ran for 20+ years and they wish they would have never done it. Not the latest 5k craze people but the older crowd.

Actually most, if not all of the people I know with knee issues developed the issues first from other sports or exercise activities, especially those that require jumping, fast cuts, and/or hard stops such as basketball, football, soccer, tennis, crossfit (joking, kinda).

Just my opinion, its rare to find a runner with knee issues that developed just from running. I do agree running can be more difficult with pre-existing injuries.

As for the 5K craze, maybe its more popular now but its hardly a craze, people have been running more and more for that past 3 decades.

Running 20+ minutes at a steady rate is long distance cardio.

3 miles isn't long to run, it's rather easy. But training to have a good 5k time requires long distance cardio training, which makes you skinny and weak. Better than a fattie though

You are so silly. Come out to Fatboy 5k and race the Clydesdales(200-229 lbs) and see how you do.

Don't think I ever ran the distance. Probably would have been somewhere around 15 minutes when I was in good shape.

I bet I could wreck that division now. Right at 200(might need a couple of pre-race donuts to make the cut) and could hit 20:00. That enough to win?

Have to check the results. there's always 1 or 2 under 20 in that division.
These two are guys closer to my age and I Know for fact are in that division. This is about normal for them. You'd basically need to run a 20 it looks like. Good luck.

My GF and I ran it too. We finished the 33s( I run with her for support as my 'nuts and guts' time would barely be under 30 right now). Go find me using Blues Clues.

18:30 a long arse time ago. Probably could rip off a 23-24 minute 5k now and pass out at the finish line.

19:04...pretty much ran between 19:15-19:45 from age 28-36. Had to get a saphenous vein lasered shut in '06 and my running days are over. 10K PR was 38:42.

Picked up golf about 3 years ago and carry 280+ on most drives...like everyone else here.

Most of your small local races a 17 or 18 minute 5k will get top 3 overall. I run alot of races so I have a good idea. You will see a couple 15 or 16 minute times in bigger races. Trying to get your time under 18 minutes is hard work.

I got back and knee injuries from HS sports. Honestly, running has made them nearly non-existent. My knees used to always crack and always had back pain. It's made me more limber I guess.
