Luckily I’m letting mine choose their gender/species at age 6 like a decent human so there won’t be any confusion at all later in life. Also I’ll keep all the drugs they could want at the house when they choose to start.

My son, my oldest, went through an a-hole stage at 17. You know, thinks he knows how the world really works, knows better than his old man, etc. He moved out at 18, lived out in the real world for a year, and came back, hat in hand, admitting he knew jack shite. He’s been a fine young man ever since. He’s out in his own again but wiser and more humble about it.

My middle child has always been on an even keel and never went through anything like this.

My youngest is 16 and has touched on being an a-hole stage, but pulls themselves back from the ledge of total assholary. We shall see what the next year or two brings.

Overall I can’t complain. None of my three have gone down any truly dark path like drugs or alcohol.

14 year old son. It’s starting but nothing terrible. Yet.

It is worse on my wife. The mouth!!

Sometimes the wife will ask him things in a way that I know it is coming. I was bitching at both of them the other day. Which was dumb of me. United front must be presented. I present as the parent that will lose their shite. Throw all devices in the pool. Rebooting the xfinity box is the most effective tool in the toolbox for me and is less trashy than beating him.

My oldest is 11. So far my answer would have changed 11 times.

I'll rather clean baby shite off the walls of a Target Bathroom again than have another round-table conference with the Principal, the English teacher and my teenage daughter on why she's struggling in class.

Teenage years for sure. I think God gives us teenagers so it isn't so hard to see them move out.

For girls has to be pre-teen

Man, I hope this is the case, because if my daughter gets any worse when she hits her teens, it's gonna get ugly. She and her mother are locked in damn near 24/7 verbal combat it seems. I had to shut it down last night because the shite is starting to drive me insane listening to them argue over the dumbest shite.

If kids were born as teenagers we'd throw them off of cliffs

I have a pre-teen daughter and a teenage daughter and we're all synched up. Life is rough at my house right now. My husband says someone is always mad and/or crying...

Parenting adult children is by far the hardest. Sounds counterintuitive, but trust me.
