I live within a 10 mile radius of google, Apple, LinkedIn, Facebook and several dozen big name tech companies. I'm surrounded by yuppies.

Hipsters are just a brand of yuppies.

Many would be classified as yuppies.

quote:

Yuppie (short for "young urban professional" or "young upwardly-mobile professional")[1][2] is a term that refers to a member of the upper middle class or upper class in their 20s or 30s.[3]

And not necessarily metro. There are big cities with few yuppies - Philly comes to mind.

I've always considered yuppies to have money and be financially stable, while hipsters live paycheck to paycheck.

Yeah, I was thinking metrosexual when I said that, not metro as in urban.

Yuppies are young, urban, upwardly mobile professionals. I think some folks are confusing metrosexuals with yuppies.

I guess the modern, slang meaning of yuppie is much different than it's original intent though.

Lots of posters confusing yuppie and hipster.
You might want to enlighten the populace on what you meant by yuppie.

Not even close. Lot of white trash in DE, especially in the Slower Lower.

Right, but Dallas isn't a state. Monaco is, it just isn't one of the states in the USA.

No state is "most yuppie." The most urbanized states will be "yuppie" and "Yuppies" are located in cities. It's kind of important to figure out what cities are yuppified to determine which state.

What makes Vermont the posterchild for yuppiness? I went to school in VT and grew up just across the border, and the yuppiness factor is limited to one small area of the state. Not a lot of young, urban corporate types can be found in Burlington due to a lack of job opportunities and corporations.

Dirty secret about VT- heroin and Oxy has been a concern there for almost the last decade.

Do you really mean "granola" instead of yuppie?

If so, then Maine gets my vote.

If you really mean yuppie then San Francisco is the most yuppie state.

This. When people talk about VT (or NH or ME) as a yuppie place it is most likely coming from the yuppies from Boston or NYC talking about their ski vacations and rental homes. I think that VT has been a dream location for aspiring yuppies looking to open a B&B or farm-to-table restaurant, but that comes much later in life.

the people saying Vermont either have never been to Vermont or do not understand the question.

If you are not a resident of Burlington or Montpelier, chances are you are a relatively poor person who drives a pickup truck.
