I mean, is anything listed here an actual investment? It would take me to reach rock bottom to sell my rugs and paintings at this point, which I admit I got through my grandparents' will (with one painting exception). No one is going to invest in a fricking piano to sit in the living room, but if shite hit the fan for me, I could probably sell the paintings and the rugs and just replace them with something very cheap and be able to put my head above water for a few months. Yes, the house is a true investment, but paintings and rugs really can help out much later on down the road, say when you retire to a place where you have much less room.
My parents have a painting that they got less than 1,000 but later learned it was fairly priceless. My sister doesn't know the price of that painting, but I've let my parents write in the will that she gets all the rugs, furniture, and jewelry just so long as I get the paintings. The one I'm thinking of will go to auction within the year I get my paws on it.

One question was enough, sorry.

So a house or property isn't an investment?
Anything that is bought and then sold at a later date for profit is an investment. The dividends are the profits collected at the point of sale.

Honestly, some experts would argue a home is not an investment. Once you factor interest, cost of ownership and property tax it gets questionable. Either way my point was a guitar or tools are not trashier than a rug. They are just different things people choose to spend money on. it is not a representation of class or wealth.

Someone could have read me your protest about how not trashy you are because of your sweet rug and your daddy's paintings, and my first guess would have been Ole Miss poser trying to convince everyone how classy he is.

Probably my Baylor diploma. Or are we taking scholarships off the value?
shite I actually use would have to be my Macbook Pro, got it last year for close to $3,700.

Turns out I was correct.....

Probably my antique Ludwig Vistalites drum kit, possibly my stand up bass.

So, you inherited some things from your grandparents, and can't wait for your parents to die so you can screw your sister out of her inheritance, and you are lecturing us about class???
