What is the Covid Endgame?

yesterday I was watching a PC with the Mayor of Houston on Covid in our area
the thing he said that struck me was they are prioritizing “stopping” the virus and mask orders, social distance regs, cancellation of public events and discussions about additional lockdowns are being held in city hall
then they said we should limit or outright cancel family gatherings for the Holidays
according to their own stats, hospitals are at normal occupancy, ICU rooms availability are normal, there are >11,800 hospital rooms available right now
all of this came out the same day as the moderna announcement of another vaccine
since when is it possible to stop a novel virus? how do we quantify stopping the virus? what are the criteria for relieving restrictions?

It seems like they're trying to take away anything and everything that people may enjoy.
They're fricking with sports at all levels, going out to eat, going to church, etc. And now it's getting to where they don't even want to allow people to get together with their own families for holidays.
They're apparently trying to break as many people as possible. I don't know what the end game is, but the more they try to convince me that this is "The New Normal" the more I think this is some organized plan of destruction.

COVID is the dream scenario for the totalitarian... it gives them the ultimate blanket unilateral excuse to do whatever they want to accomplish whatever political objective they want, in the name of "Fighting COVID".
Why would they want it to go away? The elites want this to drag out as long as they can... it will morph into COVID 21 which means more draconian measures to "fight" it, and they have a built in excuse when things get worse... "IF ONLY TRUMP HAD DONE HIS JOB AND TOOK IT SERIOUSLY FROM THE BEGINNING WE WOULDN'T BE HIS MESS" will be the go to talking point as COVID drags into 2021 and 2022....
Get ready... if you think what they did in March and April was bad, just wait...
