What is "Nextdoor"?

I got an invitation from my neighbor to join something called "Nextdoor". This looks like some type of social networking website that focuses on neighborhoods. Is anyone here a member and if so, can you provide feedback?

It's basically the rant for your neighborhood. It's worth it just for the comic relief mine had about 100 post discussion on what to do about coyotes eating small pets .

--minor crimes/break-ins/thefts
--stores or restaurants opening nearby
--lost/found dogs
--zoning meeting reminders and updates
--recommendations for services like plumbers, babysitters, etc
--buy my worn out furniture please or other classifieds
--LSU tickets for sale
--track this turtle going around the neighborhood
--OMG! There's a fox/coyote in our neighborhood!!! (This usually sets off an argument about whether they should be shot or left alone since we built on their land, blah, blah, blah)
--Warning: Vicious dog on _______ Drive!!!
Yeah, there is a lot of gossip and arguing about stupid stuff, but you don't have to open any posts you don't want to read.
