Trying to get info on AT&T. Phones are acting up again. Just was wondering. Trying to get in touch with family members and it won't let me call.

I know they were trying to get to a flooded tower in the Monterrey/Monticello area. Not sure if that's part of it.

Ridiculous, it hasn't worked since Saturday morning, what the hell are they doing? I haven't seen anything from AT&T with any kind of estimate on how long it is going to take.

At&T's switching equipment for the greater Baton Rouge area took on water Saturday morning. They had to shut the network down. They are bringing in equipment from other states and bringing service back. Their shite always fails when you need it the most. One reason I switched to Verizon years ago. My guess is it will be a couple of weeks before its back up 100%.

You should consider that they probably can't get supplies into the city because roads are still closed.

I was finally able to get in touch with my dad. However...where they are staying at doesn't get good cell service. My uncle had to basically drive around in his truck to look for a spot that would get service so I could talk to my dad.

And my uncle has a landline...with att...that is useless right now.

If you need to make a call I saw Verizon was opening up a few stores so people could go make free calls. You don't even have to be a customer.

That's great you got to talk to them. Had to be frightening.

Well I knew they were ok yesterday...just didn't get to actually talk to my dad. I was able to tell him about the FEMA stuff they could qualify for even though they didn't have flood insurance. I could tell over the phone just hearing that lifted his spirits tremendously. He wasn't aware of all that(they have no power or phone there so they didn't even know a federal disaster had been declared yet).

AT&T better get their shite together. At least update the people so they know what is going on

frick AT&T. My parents got stuck multiple times and were unable to call us and let us know they were safe. What a fricking shite show by a company that constantly brags about their availability and lack of dropped calls.

A lot of people are going to switch carriers, myself and parents included. They failed Louisiana when we needed them most.

That was the first thing my uncle said when I chatted with him on the phone

Considering what has happened it may be awhile texting works better in some cases you should call customer service & let them have it

So, not sure how true this is but a friend of ours does work for Verizon. Her team secures land to put towers, switches, etc. She said the location of these switches are supposed to be "top secret" to the public because if a terrorist every wanted to attack the cell services these switches would be the starting place. Not the towers. Seeing as how AT&T has been rendered useless for an entire area after losing just 1 switch I can certainly understand why there would be a need to keep the locations secure. Although now we know where at least 1 of AT&T's switches is located.

I can call certain people and not others both who use at&t. An explanation from the company would be nice. I mean I was using it this morning just fine and now it doesn't work

Has AT&T even bothered to issue a statement? If so i've missed it. If not that's pretty pathetic.

I bought a Verizon prepaid for the month. Lucky I got an unlocked nexus phone. I just popped in the sim and rocked it.
