I have lived in my condo for 3 years and have absolutely loved it from the beginning. Recently, a new family has moved in above my unit - Super nice family with 2 kids. The kids seem to look and act normal. The dad and mom seem to act like normal people.

However, they have a big Golden Retriever "Special Needs" dog. This dog is shitting all over the complex, I hear it barking and running and jumping up and down above me (they have hardwood floors) - It has just been absolutely brutal since they moved in.

The HOA says NO DOGS ALLOWED but since this is a "Special Needs" dog, they are allowing it.

Worst off is that I own my condo and this new family that just moved in above my unit are only "Renting"

I don;t know what to do. The dog is very loud. There have also been other residents that have complained about the dog as well.

Now my life is just miserable living in my condo because of this loud barking dog.

Has anyone ever had to deal with something like this?

Nobody in their family is blind. If so they are very good blind swimmers at the pool

One of the children could be special needs but not look or act like it. Any special needs person can have/use/benefit from a service dog, not just blind people.

It's the new welfare thing to do. There is no legal check on their claim. Your HOA is screwed.

It's a bullshite means for people to bring their dog everywhere with them. It has really gotten to the point of abuse.

There are certifications that these dogs must have in order to be a service dog. Your HOA should ask for the dog's paperwork.

This is correct. Most special needs dogs have to go through training and should be more well behaved than what you have described, though.

I do not think it is out of line for the HOA to force the owners to pick up the dog's shite, though. Special needs or not that is inconsiderate at best.

i think everyone is thinking this dog is for a special needs kid... I believe the dog is special needs, and has problems.

that was my thought

if this dog is a legit special needs dog, it sounds like the family is destroying the special needs training of the dog

a couple in my appt building has a three legged dog. although it is hilarious to watch, that dog is fast as hell. i fully understand that this is not relevant at all.

Could be for mental health purposes, a lot of veterans with PTSD are given service dogs as a coping mechanism.

I just couldn't believe that this would be true. If the dog is special needs, that family has no reason to be able to violate the no pets policy. Laws protect service dogs not dogs with disablities

You can have a special needs dog for anything these days.

Bitches bringing their yapping little dogs on planes because they get "anxious"

This is a common rant for Adam Carolla
