"....cut a little hole in their stomachs and pull out a gut and wrap it around a limb. Then I drag them thirty or forty feet and tie them down. That way they can watch the coyotes come and eat their guts."

Drowning isn't that bad. It's really just the panic of knowing you're dying more than actual pain.
Drowning and being unconscious or unaware = not scary. Drowning while being totally aware but physically helpless (i.e. Being tied down/tortured or like in something submerged with no escape route) is very scary. That could end up being potentially several minutes of pure mental torture. At least when you start burning, within about 20 seconds you're either completely numb from the shock or already dead.

I've heard drowning victim ego into a state of euphoria before dying...that is from drowning victims that are revived. Never heard any revived burn victims say it was peaceful.

We're talking about certain death, not what would be better to come back from.

Eaten by a bear, Timothy Treadwell style

Many people have chosen to jump off of very tall buildings in order to NOT burn to death. That would seem like a tough decision, but apparently it's a pretty easy choice.

For those of you who do laboratory work, death by autoclave (large pressure cooker device for sterilizing biohazardous materials) would be the absolute worst way to die IMO
Hospitals usually have a large walk-in autoclave to sterilize large volumes of waste, and I remember hearing an awful story once of a worker somehow getting trapped in one after the sterilization cycle became activated.
Here's a story from the UK from last year about a similar death:

Whatever takes the longest. Being buried alive would be pretty awful.

That dude who tied a chain around his neck to a pole and floored his car and ripped his own head off would be pretty bad
