What has Baton Rouge been doing for the BRPD this week?

In terms of showing support, have there been any groups or businesses giving thanks to the BRPD? Here in Mobile, and over in Baldwin County a lot of local businesses and individuals have been donating a bunch of things and giving out thank you cards.

As government employees, the police are supposed serve the public.
The public already serves government employees (the police in this case) by giving them a compensation package that is a combination of wages and benefits.
If anyone needs support its the family members of the officers that were murdered.

To put it in the simplest terms, my buddies and I couldn't pay for a meal in public for the past 3 weeks if we tried. It's literally been impossible.
And while I've mourned the passing of my friends and contemplated my own mortality, the support shown has reaffirmed my commitment to serving the citizens of this city for the remainder of my career.
Baton Rouge strong. Thank you to all who've shown us support.

There's also a campaign to get better protective equipment for the BRPD. There's body armor tech out there that can stop these new, faster "armor-piercing" rounds.

I'm so proud of our city for coming together for something like this. some people don't understand how much this will help. Most of these businesses will donate over 1000 each.

For some reason, I've always found a slain officer's empty car as the most telling reminder that they're gone. I remember when the two Hattiesburg officers were murdered, they showed a picture that was taken like 6 hours later that showed both of their cars with the doors still open and lights still flashing. Yet the men that brought them to that point would never be able to take them home. Same goes for the two BRPD cars parked in front of their HQ. It's a reminder that the two men who drove those less than a week ago will never occupy those again.
Maybe I'm just weird, but that kind of shite really gets to me.

I don't know who it is but there's a group of gals that catered lunches to Louisiana State Police last week and they were gracious enough to send us an invite.
I would once again like to thank Troop A for thinking about us.

I get the message of your post, but you just sound like an a-hole with this dude. Come on. You're better than that.
The mourning family members AND the Police need signs of support in this time.

There are officers that spent as much or more time with the deceased officers than their families... you don't think they're affected by the killings? These guys work long hours together and build bonds. It's absurd to believe that their family members are the only ones suffering here. I'm sure there are many more people outside of the immediate families that are grieving as well.

I support the restaurants giving 25% on Monday. But i choose to just donate the 100.00 I would spend at a restaurant to the cause. Why not give 100% and just eat at home?

I bet you'd be a hoot at parties.
I mean, if you were ever invited to any.

my friends on the force took it pretty hard, the ones I know didn't know Matthew or the Sheriff very well, but they were pretty close with Montrell...it's been a very rough week for many of them.
Not to mention, that Sunday was the last day of consecutive 12 hour shifts for everyone, and then the shooting happened so most of them were on little sleep, too.
