Plural possessive/apostrophe abuse is the scurge of modern day grammar.

It strikes me as a relatively new phenomenon. I just don't seem to recall instances of it, at least as rampant as seen now, back in the 80s and 90s.

I'm of the opinion that it's due to the widespread proximity of fast food chains (e.g. McDonald's, Wendy's, Arby's) and people not understanding that those are possessive restaurant names.

For some reason, it's even become accepted practice for family names (the Smith's), and I see it so often on Christmas cards every year.

Maybe not grammatically incorrect but, when people say “anyways” instead of “anyway”, I start gripping.

For me, it is a toss up between this and to, too, and sometimes two.
