What does an "average" tattoo cost?

Pardon ignorance / general question...my tat knowledge is weak.
But, when I see a dude or chick with them from wrist to neck, give me a ball park of what that cost them per arm?
Just curious...

I think it goes by the hour. I'd like to say between 50-100 per hour it takes

These college athletes you see tatted up have spent more on tattoos than they've ever officially earned in their lives.

Can get a football sized tattoo for 5 iced honey buns and couple ramen soups in prison

Almost worth getting arrested for.

I have exactly zero tattoos, but I've been to quite a few parlors with friends getting there's. A roundabout price of a 6"x6" realistic looking something (like a lion or giraffe or some shite, not just lettering) is like $250-$400. Lettering is cheap. People with their last names splattered across their backs are paying like $150 if I had to guess

You've been registered for a little over a week and have started exactly 29 threads. I don't think your tat knowledge is weak

No tats here, but I assume the price would vary depending on who was doing work. Could probably get a real shitty one for cheap.

Most quality shops have a $50-$80 minimum and charge anywhere from $100-$150 an hour. Most of the good artist I know will quote you a price on a full or half sleeve but not all.

My artist charges 65 an hour.
He also has a deal where he will tattoo for 8 hours or as long as you can take it, whichever comes first, for 500.00.

Ive seen 9+ hours on a half sleeve @ $125/hr.

If you're getting a sleeve in Louisana you're looking at anywhere from 800-1000 probably. If you go somewhere with better artists on the West coast you're looking at 1400-1700. If you're gonna have it forever, don't be cheap

About 12 levels of dignity

A full sleeve could cost them near $1000 easy.

There are some things in life that you can get by with just the "average." A tattoo isn't one of them
Posted on 1/12/16 at 8:35 pm to BayouSizzle
Depends on what you want, but, depending on material, yeah, I agree with the $50 to $100 per hour... plus a lifetime of regret.
The skin is a poor canvas, to begin with, and ages really poorly, even under the best of circumstances.
Spend your money on books. Or an education. Or some spinning wheels. Or guns and ammo. Or hookers and blow.
Almost anything would be better than a tattoo.
