Syd's cool. Just mean to me sometimes. See Hud at least once a year at tailgate or old boys game. He's doing well.

well to be honest, women generally create these events, and the mood and setting, a lot of times, do not match the dress code they want.

im not going to bother wearing a tie to your house party where you serve well drinks, have a stinky mutt running around, or invite your hillbilly cousin that is going to show up in a Tshirt and crocs.

I've never been invited to a cocktail event that wasn't actually a cocktail event, but I guess it's different if you're going to the Young Associates Reception at the Metropolitan Opera vs someone's house.

If you don't wear a tie to a cocktail event at the Met Opera then you're a barbarian

edit: actually the truth is that no one would really give a shite. I saw some guys without ties and thought it was an odd choice but that's the extent to which anyone would care

And a suit is never worn without a tie.
The 2000s called, it would like you to join it.

Times change people. Society used to wear full suits to football games. These days, a suit with no tie is a common look.

You're talking how it's better to be over dressed and your response was slacks, blazer, and maybe a tie to a cocktail attire party.

That's why the lol

wearing a tie to a cocktail party can be over dressing. That's what I was implying. Depends on the setting and occasion.

yea, thats what im trying to say. If im going to a formal event where i know everyone will dress properly and the mood and setting will be more refined, ill wear a tie.

but if its the middle of the summer in louisiana and someone is having a cocktail party in their big back yard by the pool just for the sake of getting people together and having fun, im prob not wearing a tie with my suit.
