You're right, they should, but only if he lives in conditions that wouldn't make a homeless man pissed off. His living conditions aren't fit for death row inmates, much less an endangered tiger.

I stopped there for the first time ever this Tuesday. I left there thinking how disgustingly outdated the entire place was. It is a damn shame that so many people stop here and on a daily basis and leave with the same impression upon south Louisiana.

store is dingy and over crowded with crap
diner is decent, not great
bathrooms are awful
Tiger cage is an embarrassment to the people of the state

The few times I have been in the place, there were trashy people hanging around the register talking to the people that worked there.

It's so cool to take a majestic, wild creature and stick it in a small cage at a truck stop for the amusement of hicks and coonasses.

Based upon me nearly vomiting and becoming nauseated from the fumes that permeate his cage area. And I was only there for a few minutes. He has to deal with that crap all day long. It's an embarrassment to Louisiana, honestly.

Beyond cruel. LSU needs to give up having a live tiger mascot as well. That is cruel.

If it were up to some LSU fans, Mike would have his balls and anus cattle prodded on game days.

agreed. But in all fairness, the cat apparently receives the required care or he wouldn't be there. I don't think its the ideal condition for a tiger to be in, but I don't think Mike should be drug around Tiger Stadium either (albeit he hasn't participated as of late). The owner has a right to own the tiger and he apparently complies with the legal obligations of ownership. That said, while I may not approve of the cat's living conditions, I dont feel anyone has reason to criticize. Don't like the situation, call your legislator and get it changed. Otherwise, its really no one's business but the owners.

I have some managed to only stop there once in my life despite driving that route many many times from BR to LF.

I don't really care about it. It a trashy place I done visit as is.

I do wish someone would show pictures of the place to Mike though and then say.. This could be you. NOW get in the damn cage!

There used to be a tiger at the Waverly exit on I-20 but that truckstop changed hands some years ago. It was sad, though.

don't see the big deal. like plants, animals only grow to the size of their enclosure. the tiger will only get so big, so it's not like he'll ever know any better.

and that tiger looked miserable. Just pacing back and forth, like a prisoner

They should release it. Just open the cage and let it go.

Mhmm, annnd? Ever wonder why cattle prods are still legal? They're necessary.
