This/\. And unfortunately, only 1 of mine was alive when I was born and he died when I was no more than 7 or 8 years old.

Later in my life our family kind of adopted an older gent who was a family friend and he was labeled "Paw Paw" and he had no objections. He was a fine old gent who lived to be 85.

Actually don't remember. He was ill when I met him and I was young. I guess grandpa, good question. RIP grandpa.

Both of my grandfathers are Pawpaw. But it sounds like puhpaw.. emphasis on the paw. More French sounding I guess. My wife's family is from Baton Rouge and New Orleans and they say Paw-Paw .. more southern than French

This, but my Mom's Mom did get married again. We called him Pop. WW1 and WW2 Vet.
