What did you do to get in your field fresh out of school?

Did you know someone who knew someone? Just caught a break/employer desperate? Volunteer? ( ) Entry level-then moved up? Took some job semi related and moved on? Intern?

I'm about to finish my Bachelor's, CS, and will probably go to Grad school which is probably a year and a half out at least, but I'm still freaking out because I haven't had a real job for very long...I did retail 2 1/2 years but I couldn't take being in a shitty situation every single day any longer. I was offered a internship at Regions this summer in Birmingham that I'm considering and I'm still applying to others.

"Who You Know" wins every time. Socializing with people in your field, employers, etc. is far better than scanning monster.com.

Started at the very bottom in a small market and worked my arse off. I try my best to rise above the "lazy millenial" label that my generation got slapped with.

Beggers can't be choosers. If you don't get another internship offer by the time your Regions offer lapses, take the Regions position. Most employers are just looking for the lowest risk possible, and you lower your risk to them by cutting your teeth elsewhere.

Retail sucks as do most jobs students do while in College. It's still much easier to explain working than not working in an interview.
