re: What did Brian Williams lie about when reporting Katrina?

Brian Williams was just confused and thought he was Scott Templeton from The Wire.

He didn't lie about anything

But he exaggerated and interjected himself into events that happened to other people, and represented it as though it happened to him, personally.
So, that will do until a lie comes along, I suppose. If this is just friends playing "me, too" over a round of beers, that's 1 thing - but this is a major network news anchor - the face of their news division. If we can't trust anything he says, at a factual level, I think he has to go. Look how long CBS has taken to recover from Dan Rather and his lying, partisan producer?

Bodies floating every where.

This is so fricking stupid
Brian williams was a pall bearer in my uncles funeral. I got his signature which is pretty cool
If he is lying it's not intentional. He is a great man and a great reporter

What events led to this?

Agreed.
He's full of crap.
They'll replace him as his credibility is completely shot.

I feel sorry for people that have to resort to name calling
We only have so many years on this earth and you choose to put people down
What about if kids called a child of yours a dumbass or bullied them and your son or daughter decided to kill themselves in front of your wife

What? I think you may need to get another cup of coffee.
Anyway, I liked Williams too, but you are too biased if you can't recognize this is a serious issue for NBC and him.

Brian Williams is a liar. Simple fact.

There is a Fark thread started on this.
I hope it gets some responses. It has real potential.

Doesn't matter. Once your credibility comes into question, your career as a journalist is in big trouble.

He's done... as we speak people are picking through his stories over the last 20 years and imo will reveal a disgusting string of bullshite lies spanning his entire career. Pretending to have combat wounds or illness/hardship from katrina is disrespectful to those that did. Clown is done.

That's a good one. I liked 'live from the moon' too

He said " I could see a body float by my Hotel Room window". He was staying at I believe the Royal Sonesta.... So he saw flood waters in a part of the city that saw no flood waters?
His credibility is shot other anchors have resigned for less.

they also showed a clip of hillary clinton talking about being greeted with sniper fire when she went to iraq or whatever (she told same story at multiple appearances). Then they showed her actual greeting when she arrived and there was a bunch of school children hugging her..
I saw someone say "I don't care if it was one year, ten years or 60 years. If you are in a helicopter hit by fire, you will never forget the moments of that day for the rest of your life. To confuse it and cover it shows that it was a planned lie from the beginning and not an misremebering. "

Was the body Williams' saw floating by his hotel window your uncle?
