It can be a mixed bag in Scandinavia. I've met plenty of people that think they have everything figured out, and that the world should just operate as their country does. They have no idea that they're essentially living in a bubble. I've experienced that in Denmark quite a bit, much less so in Sweden and Norway. But the majority understand that you can't compare relatively small, homogenous countries to a diverse nation of over 300 million. They also realize that if shite were to hit the fan, we would be the one's taking care of things, e.g. Russia.

Europe as a whole seems to enjoy sitting back, waiting for us to do something, and critiquing it. All the while doing nothing of true value themselves. But those are the shots you take when you're at the top.

A lot of the countries mentioned as a whole hate us, however if you talk to people from those nations they all want to live in the US. Pretty much every cab driver here is from Pakistan. They always want to know where I'm from and when I say the US they always say "everyone wants to go to the US- why are you here?" Same applied for Egypt. THey all wanted to go to the US because of freedom.

As for France and other Euro countries I think as long as you're polite to them, and don't act like a major asshat in their countries then everything is fine. I was just in Italy and everyone was extremely nice. Did they talk shite about us in Italian? Maybe. idgaf.

The only two groups of people who have personally given me shite about being American are Canadians and Brits. It's just general good hearted ribbing from the Brits. Canadians are passive aggressive nerds.

Iranians hating us is to be expected though. It may be more of a distrust than hate.

Hell, the former US embassy in Tehran that was overrun in 1979 is now known by names like the "Den of Espionage" and contains a museum dedicated to the revolution and anti-America material.

I'd say it has to be North Korea and there's is not really a close second. They are literally brainwashed from birth to hate us with a visceral passion. Everywhere they turn they see things like this...

The only people who think the French hate us are the kind of people who have never traveled and have a poor view of the French. Most cultured people in any country don't hate Americans.

ETA: They may have issues with our government, but they like our people and our culture.

Not hatred, but the UAE thinks they are better than any other people, including Americans. They don't specifically hate us, they just look down at all non-Emiratis as lower forms of life. Americans and Europeans do get to be the highest sub-humans there though.

Only other place I've traveled with regularity is Singapore, and they freaking love us.
