My birthday is in a few weeks and Im feeling old. What are some of your favorite memories?
I remember reading with my grandparents , going to eat at Great Wall, or sleeping over at my friends house to watch Chicken Run.

My birthday is tomorrow (the 18th). I'll be 53.
For no good reason, I can remember standing in my grandmother's kitchen in Lafayette, looking out her back door while she and my mom cooked lunch, with 'Wichita Lineman' on the radio. I was 9 or 10.

My dad once told my sister and I when I was 6 that my dad was being transferred to Europe for 2 months, and he wanted my sister and I to see him off to the airport. We get to the gate, and it turns out it's Orlando. Turns around, says we're going to fricking Disney World for a week. First time there, and maybe the happiest moment of my life to this day. Sad really.

I thought about starting a thread like this to help the board with such dire events occurring...

I'd say playing dodgeball all night at lock-ins and going to camp.

Waking up on a Saturday morning, jumping on my bike and hitting the neighborhood and playing basketball, building tree houses, hr derby, tennis, or whatever else in the hell us crazy kids had in mind and strolling back in when the street lights kicked on. And having not a lick of responsibility but not get injured enough that it would cause an ER or doc visit at the least.

We didn't have an AC unit in our house,(You're correct, OT poor) we had an attic fan. In the summer we slept with the windows open and the fan would pull air from outside through the house. My bed was in front of the window and I could smell the fresh cut grass, hear the crickets, frogs and the sound of the train that passed nearby. I love that memory.
Sometimes, at night, when I've cut the grass and I'm sitting outside enjoying the peace and quiet, the smells and sounds of the night are so strong I feel if I close my eyes I'll wake up in the bed in front of the window.
