Trying to get some ideas. Of course I got him hookers and blow last year, so that's out.

Planning on spending an hour or two at Cabela's tomorrow just to shop for him and my brothers. May even find something for Mom too

Dad's easy. He's gotten gift cards to Bass Pro for the last 5 years. He specifically sends out a text every year informing us not to mess it up.

i bought my dad a spicy mustard from butcher. He is working on losing weight and makes a lot of salad dressings with spicy mustards. So I will get him a few more epicurean treats that cater to his current nutrition plan

Wish I could - he's no longer alive.

Spend all the time you can with them while they're still around.

You don't need to spend lots of money.
Best present I ever bought him was $20 worth of fishing lures and a note that said I'd take a day off and go fishing with him. Best fishing trip ever too!

gift cards are for people under 30. if you are getting a gift card for a relative over 30, you are doing it wrong.

personally, I always get my father the same gift - whiskey. I know he will enjoy it, and its easy to get.

Someone mentioned a book on the OT last yr, and I got it for my dad for his birthday. He basically didn't put it down for the rest of the night except for cake/ice cream.

Can't say. I think he only reads the Rant, but he may wander into the OT once in a while on accident

He has every damn thing under the sun that would be useful, and every imaginable sort of LSU attire and meomorabilia, so I usually try to find some kind of unique and obscure collectible on Ebay.
