The dudes that pull trailers up to NW La are cooking and it's killing me.

Gonna stop and ask tomorrow for Friday plans but curious how we are looking this year.

I paid $5.99/pound boiled last weekend in Houston. They were super small tho. Tailgaters on the Woodlands.

Rumor on the streets is that it's 5lbs/$30 in Lafayette. Crawdads in acadiana > crawdads outside acadiana

Mid season in NW La settled at $3.75-$4 last year non restaurant.

Any chance we get back there or is there a gouging coming?

I love boiled crawfish but it really is the most ridiculously priced food. I'm not really complaining about the farmers getting paid, I'm just amazed every year that pricing doesn't adjust.

In Houston, it gets ridiculous. You start approaching reasonable steak dinner territory for 5 lb boiled.

I remember $1.10/lb cooked back in the day even in NW La but that's never coming back.

I've settled into being ok with $4 or under. Last year was pretty good for that.

Yea, I like them at the Cajun Stop downtown Houston but last year the were nearly $9/pound. Mix in a few beers and you're dropping nearly $100 for a couple.

The very hot and rainy winter along with unusually high fuel prices will ultimately increase this years price.

It's too warm outside and the moon isn't bright enough.

3.25/lb

Man, I know crawfish are available right now.. Even as early as December, but if you want quality crawfish wait until at the earliest late February.. Early march. From March to I guess the beginning of July is the best time to get them... But even in early July their shells are getting a little harder.

It might just be a personal preference for me, but I just don't like to eat pound crawfish.

If that had any effect it would be an earlier, more plentiful season.

Not sure about you but around here gas prices, though slowly creeping back up, have been the lowest they've been in several years. Under 2 bucks for a long time.

Unless they season just the outside. Would rather pay more per pound. But that's for another thread that I'm sure will be soon to follow.
