Keep seeing people ask about individual fairs or festivals around the state and it gauged my interest in getting out on the weekends more. I've been to the strawberry fest, jazzfest, french quarter fest and the BR state fair so I think I can only improve from here.

What are your favorite festivals to go to around the state? I see there's a rice festival in crowley next weekend, any good? I'm looking to explore what LA has to offer while I'm here for grad school so I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

French Quarter Fest is still my favorite although it may not be for much longer as it continues to expand

I have always liked the seafood fest on the northsore as well

Case in point Malvin and the many Mini-Malvins will be there

Also, Boudin festival in Scott is fun. Way better clientele

If that's your idea of a best festival then you need to venture out more.

Looks like I got a few months before that boudin festival. I see there's a few websites that list all the LA festivals but it's not easy to tell which ones are worth going to

I was hoping to go see Charlie Daniels play this year but I'm at work. I haven't been to the rice festival in about 7 or 8 years

As weird as it sounds, and definitely not the typical Louisiana small town festival, The Renaissance Festival is actually pretty cool for a day. I went for the first time last year thinking it would suck, but the location is great and it was a good time for people watching.

It's by far the least trashy festival I'v been to because they charge admission and there are plenty of beer stations.
