Random bar in Grand isle for my brother’s bachelor party some hot girl stripped down to bra and panties giving all the guys lap dances. Code of conduct down there is well, a bit different.

3 trips stick out the most to GI:
Getting a ticket doing 26 in a 25 in GM.
As a teen driving out there and parking on the beach, pitch black and dropping acid. First time really listening to Pink Floyd, been the biggest fan since.
Getting bit by so many mosquitoes I felt like my entire body was one big bump.

The only time I ever went was when I was a teenager. I went with my gf of the time’s family. We did hand stuff under water and she got a bladder infection.

I also got a sunburn.

Church services in Our Lady of the Isle.
so you could go to Catholic Mass in Grande Isle but not at LSU? Why did Mother change her mind about that over the years?

No one has mentioned stopping at the original Dufrene’s Bakery on La 1 in Golden Meadow. It was a mandatory stop to get French Bread, Cap Bread and pastries.

Traveling to Grand Isle in the 60’s, 70’s and the 80’s was a blast. Bayou Lafourche was thriving and traveling La 1 was an adventure. The 4 lane is boring, but fast.

I’m going to eat lunch today in Golden Meadow at Chine’s Net Shop .

Tent camping in the state park. I remember the tent always being full of sand. The thought of it drives me crazy now but I didnt care as a kid.

My grandpa took me surf fishing and the water was up to my armpits. I destroyed my Zebco reel bc I let it get wet, even though he told me not to. I did catch a spec that day.

I remember there were only three baits we ever used; chartreuse sparkle beetle, clear sparkle beetle, white sparkle beetle. That was it. No electric lemon with a special jig head that had realistic google eyes. No Gulp or Vudu. Mostly only chartreuse sparkle beetle.

We used to gig for flounders with Coleman lanterns but I think they were letting us do it for fun. We had no chance of finding one in the surf.

One time we stumbled across some kind of dead creature that washed up on the beach. I dont know what it really was but I had it in my mind that it was some type of mermaid. Probably a big jelly fish.

I had so much fun there as a kid that I make it a point to take my daughter crabbing several times a year. She loves it there and has no desire to go to a "real beach".

I got out of school and my dad took me to his friend’s fishing camp in Grand Isle for 3 days the week after.

Waking up at 3 AM, eating Hubig’s Pies for breakfast, cold fried chicken from the gas station for lunch, the fish we caught for dinner.

I vividly remember our boat getting circled by dolphins and me thinking they were sharks and we were all going to die.

Me and a group of buddies went the Tarpon Rodeo one year in Grand Isle. Looking for a different experience than Panama City/Ft. Walton. Our good time was interrupted somewhat when one of my pals was observed smoking the devil's lettuce by an undercover officer from Jefferson Parish Street Crimes Unit.

All of us were frisked by the cops and interrogated as to where we were staying. We told 'em we had just rolled into town and were looking to hook up with some chicks for a place to crash. The truth was we had a beach house but in that house was a couple ounces of weed, a bong, and other paraphernalia. They locked my buddy up for a couple hours then let me bond him out.
