and make sure some of the kitchen and island outlets have the built-in USB charging ports. In fact, think hard about that side of the kitchen counter area that seems to be where car keys/cell phones/fitbits/tablets get dropped off and put a 4-port USB oulet right there.

We did this throughout the kitchen after the flood. We have USB charging outlets on both ends of the kitchen island as well as the coffee station. Get dedicated circuits for the kitchen and kitchen outlets. Especially for the microwave. You would be surprised how much juice all of your smaller appliances can pull. Check your electrical code and get several 20amp circuits in the kitchen. 20 amp circuits for the outdoor kitchen area as well. USB ports every place you can put them. We use them all the time.

I know this isn't something you are thinking of but I would make sure all of your doors are large enough and your bathroom and shower is large enough in case you or someone else in your fam ever have to go in a wheelchair. Also don't make your showers where you have to step over to get in. Make them 0 entries. Could save you thousands down the road...

If you have the space, wider doors into every room are a nice addition. You would be surprised how much difference just 2" wider openings can make when you are carrying stuff in and out of the rooms.

Safe room, or at least a reinforced inner room in case of a tornado.

I had a house where the area under the front porch was an underground block room with a door from the basement. It was completely underground and cement block with the cores filled with concrete. They just used metal decking and bar supports to pour the porch slab instead of back-filling with gravel.

We sunk a safe into the floor of one of the bedrooms when we poured foundation. It has carpet over it but carpet is not tacked down.

The frick kind of pocket doors you got that do this?

Exactly...pocket doors can be great if planned properly. Just get the best hardware you can find. Quiet rollers make a big difference...once it is in, it is a freakin' crazy pain in the arse to work on it.

We have switches in the door frames of the closet. The lights come on when u open the door.

We also have drawers and shelves in closet so no bulky bedroom furniture. Just bed and night stands.

And roll out drawers in my pantry.

Separate shite thrown with a door and a TV wall mounted. Make sure you feed an entertainment unit speaker into their as well so you dont have to miss a second of the game while you take an hr long shite. Thats no.1. I think those fold out spouts on the backsplash above the range is a nice touch, especially if youre a rice and gravy cooking machine. Extra wall outlets around the house so your ole lady knows thats theres never not a time to have a vacuum in her hands. Its more of a mental note type of thing to her than an actual economical thing to do. She'll understand. Also, I hear that glitter paint in the kids rooms is all the rave these days. Make sure its glow in the dark. Patio area, no matter how big you think is big enough, its not. Go bigger. Alot bigger. Your patio should be the BBC of the neighborhood. I believe a gun safe mounted into the wall is a must have. That way reggie and his podnuhs wont be able to boost it while youre at work supporting them. I think wine bottle storage is a nice touch on the side of an island. Make sure your kitche triangle is not too large. Thats an underrated thing thats ive seen modern homes go more towards and its pretty asinine. Why should you have to take three extra steps to the fridge to grab a beer when youre throwing down on a chicken fricasse'? Heated floors are always nice. Lets see, please, for the love of god, have an actual fireplace with a chimney. Nothing says family like a firelit living room that no one is enjoying. Install a jacuzzi tub with a spray nozzle. Your wife's clit will frickin love it. If you have to sacrifice anywhere, go small on the front porch. You will not use it as much as you think.

What the frick, its not even 8am and I already have a bottle of wine in me.

My guess is the new styles break down easier so you need a set working while the other one is being repaired.

Buy speed queen old style washers. They are the bomb.

Tim Hudson has his and her's washer/dryer in their separate walk in closets in their house. After seeing that my wife has been extremely jealous of the setup.

Put the biggest openings you can in the exterior walls in the living room/kitchen to the outdoor patio/kitchen/pool. I'm talking if you can get away with the entire exterior wall being a glass door that opens floor to ceiling, do it.
