What's the scene at their events?

Is it a bunch of try hard hipsters hocking ads or is there a decent crowd at their shindigs (boobs, beers, butts, etc.)

I have VIP to an event tonight and have no clue what to expect.

Generally young professionals who try really hard to network/fit in. But it can be fun I guess. Depends on what you consider fun.

I went to one a few years ago. It seemed like I was the only black person there. When the issue came out I was plastered everywhere. So if you're black and you go to one of these events, you will be in the magazine. I was starting to get nervous cause everytime I turned around, somebody was taking my picture.

Get hammered, make up a good fake name and you might just enjoy yourself.

Beer tasting, washed up ho's trying to hang on to their 20's yet really in their 40's. Nothing to brag about at all. Seriously. Go with extremely low expectations and have several beers.

I have a good number of friends(most just FB these days) who are about 5-15 yrs younger than me and a few older than me and are posting up from the events. They look fun but I can have fun anywhere.
So... what she said ^^^^ although seems like people looking for something fun to do and be apart of what's happening in their town rather than trying hard to 'fit in'. Perspective I suppose.

Isn't the owner/founder of 225 Magazine a right wing, fundamentalist Christian?

I've gone to a couple of their events and they're a mixed bag. Generally, a pretty good looking crowd of women, a lot of try-hards, some old stuffy types, and a shite ton of alcohol. If there's a half-decent band, it's generally a great party.

Nah, you're right. I just know a lot of people that interpret it as "try hards", so I said that to get the idea across. I don't have an issue with that crowd and I've gone to 225/Forum 35/etc. events because sometimes I just really need the networking and/or night doing something different.

225 is a younger magazine (coming from someone as young as me, lol).. definitely the younger-aimed sister of Business Report. But I imagine it will be fun enough.

The event is at Pelican, so however much fun OP usually has at Pelican is about how much fun it should be
