yeah, I agree malls are slowing down but women will still go there for a while because they like to try on. I order most of my shirts online, but whenever I buy jeans I like to try them on.

Everytime I read one of these threads and compare to my memories, I feel sadly that Baton Rouge has become Pottersville.

Clarence! Clarence! Help me, Clarence! Get me back! Get me back, I don't care what happens to me! Get me back to my wife and kids! Help me Clarence, please! Please! I wanna live again. I wanna live again. Please, God, let me live again.

Nah brah, it was replaced by a MerryGoRound. That place has some nice suits and blasting disco music.

Ya hurd!

Lakeside is one of the busier malls in America. It will hold up for a while.

Yeah the good malls won't go away overnight but teenage girls have Instagram now do they're not filling the malls up anymore.

You won't see any grand galleria plans in the works anymore.

Chess King used to be the Ying and yang of a suit store. They catered to a mixed demographic that includes Vanilla Ice wannabes.

Didn't some out of state company have plans to buy it and renovate it?

Yes but the owner died about a year ago and the property has been tied up in his estate and other litigation since. I installed some AT&T equipment out there last year and we haven't been able to get power to it because we can't even get a right of way agreement from them to run power to the transformer. There is no end in sight to the legal proceedings from what I have heard.

More middle and upper middle class women are shopping at upscale dept stores like Saks and Bloomies when they visit larger cities and holding off on major purchases until then.

Man, I love shopping at Sears, easy, easy, in & out.

But, in general Malls suck, I don't do it. The perimeter stores there are always full and also easy to shop at.

FWIW, I moved to Central to get away from fighting crackheads in my yard in BR. Nice tradeoff, now I have Deer in my yard, not to mention the School System.........

And to be honest, people are getting more and more into shopping locally.

Local boutiques aren't near as expensive as they once were, and they're always the most up-to-date on a region's fashions because their owners hand select everything.

Most females I know buy their clothing from local places or the internet.

Also, places like Perkins Rowe. They have some really cute womens stores that aren't crowded.

Any place that "people" can walk around and not spend money is gonna die eventually - scares the "people" who spend money away.

Mehh.It was that way in 1989. Something has changed about the place. I can't quite figure out what.
