I agree...kind of sobering to see how low it is in person. Feel the same way at Lake Travis.

Wait, wait, so you're telling me we're gonna build the nations largest reservoir in the heart of the Great American Desert where all these big assed dried up lake beds are located, and then expect it to supply the one of biggest tourist destinations replete with luscious golf courses and green landscapes?

Just as well to build a major city in a below sea-level bog.

Blame vegas

Vegas actually steps up to control their water usage. You guys would flip your shite if you had the same ordinances or even had to go through water and energy conservation in school like we had to.

California gets the lion's share of the electricity produced. Vegas has a negotiated rate that is ridiculously low. I'm not sure what it is now, but it was like 3.5 cents per kilowatt when I lived there.

The very article you linked says that if LA would capture ALL of its rainwater, which is an impossibility, that would only account for 50% of its needs.

This problem is so many years in the making. When they were building Hoover the gov't moved a lot of people out of their homes and flooded the towns. We'd find one of the houses sticking up out of the water and fish there as the houses acted as reefs.
