How would today’s youth react to such a thought / draft?

Given the current political state and unrest of the nation, would a draft be a positive activity for the future of the American way of life to restore the values instilled generations prior.

Last Days in Vietnam? If so, it's probably one of the best things I've ever seen on television.

They'd all get waivers due to ADHD or gluten foods

I'm too old for the draft now but I don't wish war on anyone. My great uncle could barely talk about fighting in the Pacific in WWII unless he had a few pops in him.

Great Doc, but this is a new eight-part series by Burns. I think you can stream it free.

20 yr olds are drafted first.

Then it goes up, to 26..I think..

Then comes the 18 and 19 yr olds.

If my sons would get drafted to fight for a war like that I would hide them. frick that, why kill themselves for no good reason.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

What values? Do you mean like not getting 50,000 of our youths killed in a meaningless war on the other side of the planet?

Different mindset for Vietnam than currently.

Vietnam, all the kids into it grew up on stories about their family members kicking arse in WW2 and Korea.

More recently America involved itself in a shite situation in the Middle East.

It why this generation currently is so soft. They missed out on protesting the War on Terror, so they just want to feel included on anything. Pussies.

I can’t help but feel there are posters on the poli board that secretly think it was the right thing to do. Kill students that don’t support Merica.

The whole “play stupid games...” crew.

The last little behind the scenes clip said it pretty well

Kids on both sides... poorly led National Guard thinking theyre protecting the country vs ideologue students

Both doing what they think is right, but the term "poorly led" really sticks out in that situation

Again, those guns never should have been loaded

Of course. Actually the part that stuck out to me was the fact that the guards said they would open fire again if the kids didn’t leave immediateley. As if killing people their own age didn’t even affect them.

It goes to show that when you believe you have right on your side that you may be capable of doing horrible things.
