Watch Thread; New Seiko Turtle Review

For those interested in the new Seiko Turtle re-issue, I'd like to share my thoughts after about 6 months of wearing it.
I always liked the original Seiko 6105 Turtle diver, but age, condition, and price made it too hard to pull the trigger on.
At the end of 2014, Seiko announced they were finally releasing a new edition of the original turtle diver, under their Prospex professional dive watch line. Considering the quality of Seiko's automatics, the classic turtle case, and Seiko's all-around practicality and reputation, it was no question to pick one up as my daily wearer. Retail is around $400, but you can pick one up between $250-$300 if you do a little searching. It comes in the traditional black bezel, gold, or Seiko's pepsi bezel.
I think they look great with simple NATO cloth straps, and they really go with any color strap you can find.
For a daily wearer that will take a beating and maintain excellent time with daily use, I think it's hard to beat Seiko.
Thoughts form the gentlemen of the OT?

Looks a great deal like my SKX173

The lug width looks different between the first and last photo. They update it from 18 to 20mm?

Good looking watch. What do they sell for?

Serious question(s)...
I can never wrap my head around the 150 meter water resistant.
How many people do you know will EVER in their life submerge themselves 500 ft below water? What good would this particular watch do once you get there? Other than only be water "resistant".
It seems like on most watches this is one of the only things written on them other than the brand. Why do they even bother to write this on them? Let's just assume that all watches worth a damn will not break when exposed to water, even under 3x's the recreational limit of scuba divers.

I don't get the Breitling love, their dials are way too busy

My watch goes to 2,000 feet. It's been maybe 10 while snorkeling in TCI, but man did I feel like a real frogman.
OP: I like that Turtle a lot. If it were 42mm, I'd buy one.
What I'm excited about from Seiko is the improved Presage line, which is like a poor man's Grand Seiko mostly only sold in Japan. I'm either going to get this one:
Or this simpler one:
I'm a sucker for Breguet numerals.

Agreed, put that on the back of the case. You shouldn't have to put Automatic on it either. I think they just mimic Rolex writing shite shite all over the dial.
Put the brand name, or not, and call it a day.

The OT typically has some great watches, this one included, but I would love to know what use they provide that qualifies them as a "Dive" watch.

I like it with that olive strap - is that yours?

In case you find yourself in 600m of water, try their Marinemaster series (this one was actually taken down to 3,000 feet during a test and performed perfectly)

I can't say for sure but these are some of the things I've heard. That watch is a big bag of dicks. The following are the things I've heard
This watch didn't want the slaves freed
This watch was worn by Lee Harvey Oswald when he killed Kennedy.

Wait until you get into a heated discussion over what is and what is not a "Tool Watch"

If I'm diving to 3,000' IDGAF what time it is and I'm going to have something a helluva lot better to manage my remaining breathing air time than some little 30mm dial.

I love the look of it, and I would daily wear the hell out of it, but it's really not that useful under water.

I'll give you a hint... Air time = 0
Enjoy decompression.
