Actually both are gone as of a couple months ago. Mark Stevens died a few years ago, maybe 5 years. Jim Pruett died just a couple months back. I believe it was September.

damn didn't know that.
i tried looking them up a while back when i was in Houston hoping to find them still on air somewhere. That's when I first heard Stevens died. Didn't know about Pruett.

Billy Ed doesn't come on til 6 am.

Johnson warms up his vocal cords from 5:30 to 6. Billy Ed is the easiest voice for him to do, so that is his primary character beginning at 6. Eaux is the most difficult voice to do, and therefore, Eaux is heard less and less. Kenneth is the middle voice - difficulty wise.

The joke used to be that Eaux always came in late (CPT) - like 8:30 or later, but I've heard him as early as the 6:00 hour in recent years. Kenneth carries a lot of the load later in the morning as they do celebrity news and things like that. Eaux is the sports and financial expert.

Wonder what 98.1 is gonna do with W&J who will feel that morning spot?

They're still on Eagle, just off of Bayou. Pay attention

As to why they don't "just play music", because most musical selections flat out suck. "Classic rock" is the same shite over and over. Country, rap, modern music blows. W&J would be fine if Walton would quit bitching about politics. Need to keep it light hearted and just be irreverent instead of cynical and bitchy

I worked at store that was selling their 20th? or 30th? ( who knows) anniversary shirts, we had a whole rack of them for a month that no one bought. The week of the event it was like people of Wal-Mart invaded, I don't think we ever sold as many XXL shirts as we did that week.

He owned a gun shop in Houston, or at least he did when I was still living there. Jim Pruett's Guns and Ammo.

I used to love these guys when I was a kid, but man, the Obama election really took a toll on them.

I know they are still on 98.1- just saying "I wonder what they are going to do" I gotta think they won't be on much longer locally!

They started out on 92.3 QUE back in 80's. Dave Butts and Tommy Tucker replaced them in the morning after they left.

I remember reading once they had an 80 market share in Baton Rouge. It might not be that high today but they are still extremely popular in BR.

Eagle 98.1’s Walton and Johnson #1 in the Ratings yet again!

They've actually gotten a little better now that Obama's on his way out. Dare I say they were pretty funny during the election but that's because Hillary is so easy to hate. The show was 95% Obama during the last 8 years.
