When it comes down to it as long as you shop on the outside aisles of the store you will be good regardless of where you go.
I prefer my meat not to be pumped with all that shite or pre frozen.
When I was in Germany lots of the produce that the commissary on base sold was local. The only thing is it was rejects from the German stores but the US Gov't was sure willing to sell it to us. Some of the stuff was just disgusting and it ended up being cheaper or the same price to go off base. But so many americans are afraid to leave their comfort zone. All the meat other than the beef that came from the states was also local rejects or shitty tysons brand.

well if you don't like fat on steaks, i don't know if i can trust your ability to judge red meat
fat is what makes it taste good (and we didn't start eating beef that much until we change their eating habits from grazing herds to rounded up cattle, b/c it led to a more marbled meat)

I like eating leaner cuts of meats , I wont go lower than 93% on beef. Its nice here b/c when you get chicken its already been trimmed of all the fat and its fresh and not pumped full of shite. The packaging alone lets you know the store butcher prepared and packed it.
me preparing it makes it taste good

The same concept as "going green" which is a much bigger scam

I can walk to Whole Foods, it's three blocks away.
The nearest WalMart involves a 30 minute drive - each way.
I'll stick with Whole Foods and pay a little extra.

they should at least be educated on the product they are buying and have the option of going organic.
Sure. But that isn't Wal Mart's goal. Wal Mart's goal is to try and cut into the market share of the organic/whole foods food industry. And even then, do you think the average consumer really cares about buying organic? I doubt the prices at Wal Mart will be the same for organic and non-organic food, so that right there will stop many consumers from buying organic.

This. And between the grocery stores I frequent, Whole Foods has the best selection and quality bar none. Albertsons is really expensive and had terrible quality and selection (and one aisle open during peak customer times.) Wal-mart grocery has the cheapest stuff but it's all processed and packed with preservatives. They never have a decent selection of produce and don't carry fresh seafood because their customer base doesn't buy it.
I could go to calandro's but it's as expensive as WFs and has a smaller selection.
As far as produced goes, I'm sure organic v. Non-organic probably doesn't make that much of a difference but WF beats other stores on freshness and selection. And the bill between a weekly shop at Albertsons and WF isn't that drastic.

it's to trust walmart when it comes to opening up markets and making money
Oh, I don't doubt they'll make money. But to think they'll significantly cut into the market share of the organic/whole foods industry is far fetched, imo (which has to be their goal).

Growing up in the DC area we had all types of store and it really was you get what you pay for.
You go to bottom dollar you get low quality shite
Safeway or Foodlion it depends
Whole Foods,Wegmans and Harris Teeter you got better shite.

Amazing might not be how I would describe Wal Mart. I'd say Wal Mart is more a product of the U.S. fricking up the grocery industry through mergers. Although that's a whole 'nother can of worms.
They'll take some market share and make money. But they would have to completely re-brand themselves (i.e. start new stores) to really do damage in the organic/whole foods market.

We buy Organic fruits and veggies from the Dirty Dozen list. We try to buy Non-GMO also. If Wal-Mart offered that at a cheaper price, then I am all for it.
There is no clear scientific evidence one way or another if organic and Non-GMO foods are better for you or if GMO foods are dangerous. But since I have an option, I will opt for "cleaner" foods.
Processed foods are processed foods. They are all crap whether they are GMO, Non-GMO or organic. When we buy processed foods, if you cannot pronounce and ingredient, we don't get it. We also try to stick to buying items that have 5 ingredients or less. Anything else, and we make it ourselves.

The Walmart demographics isn't exactly the healthy eating/active lifestyle types.
What is sad is you can still get better shite there than on base. Once I finally get stationed back in the states i'll never use the commissary. Over priced for shite quality.
