It's not easy to live authentic to yourself, and it does involve a whole lot of sitting around and thinking about all the lies and dishonesty that you are employing in your own life--balanced with action of course, but it's gotta be a healthy mix.
That seems like a separate crisis of identity and confidence, not necessarily interrelated to the OP's

What would you do if a doctor told you you have 6 months to live? Think hard about that. Make a list. I'm not a doctor but the odds are pretty high that you have 6 months to live.....plus a lot more than 6 months. What's first on your list? What's stopping you?

This is what got me thinking about it.

My mom died at 43. Exercised, didn't smoke, didn't drink. Her heart stopped.

That's ten years older than I am now.

She raised four kids. Was a loving wife to my dad. She lived her real life.

Me? I quit a good paying job to do one I love. I have good friends. I am a good person.

I just feel like my life hasn't started.

Limbo is kind of a cool feeling to have sometimes, because it lets you sort of let go of everything and see everything from a detached perspective; but it's also dangerous to your well being if you let it go on for too long.

I know I'm stating the obvious there, but I feel reflective tonight.

I get that.

I feel that way sometimes.
I was married for a very long time & lived for my family.
Lost myself along the way.

Son is moving on into his adult life.
I will find my way back to myself again.

Yes. Nobody is immune from living their life in normal cycles where bullshite thinking creeps in from time to time. Clarifying your thinking on your own life is like pulling weeds from a garden. If you ever stop trying to pull out all the bullshite thinking, then you will start living a life taken over by bullshite thinking.

I often ask myself Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality.

Your reality is not my reality. Don't assume your level of perception, theory of consciousness, brain chemistry, prevalence of ego, etc etc is the same as mine.

There is no universal human condition

Whatever psychic struggles and trials and achievements and reconciliations you've made are yours and yours alone. As are mine. We can't relate.

Respectfully,

Boo fricking Hoo. Congrats. Welcome to the show. You should comprehend that your problems now may be your salvations in the future. As you "progress" your answers will become your problems and thence, your utmost disdain. Absent wife/kids, you should be enjoying the frick out of your life right now. Failure to do so will be a regret you will hold until you finally slip the mortal coil.
