Well unpaid leave both men and women technically get 12 weeks each (if they meet the requirements), but many in here have agreed than a man taking off that much time is not only highly unlikely for many reasons.

Paid leave is a whole different story

I don't have kids... but when we do, I would hope my husband would take off equally as much time as I do if they are sick. I don't think it would be fair for me to always be the one taking off work.

Who makes more money? It's likely to be the other one taking off

I would assume "motherly instincts" kicking in would have something to do with them taking off more time for kids.

Another young response. You don't move up the ladder taking sick leave

Can you really not figure this out?

Which job would you rather lose for calling in sick all the time? the 40k one or the 90k one?

I get sick leave but if they can't count on me to be at work they'll find someone they can count on

In most cases men tend to have the higher paying job. Missing work is not as easy if you have more responsibilities...miss meetings, deadlines, etc.

I guess I'll really just have to spell it out. IMO opinion, it would matter more about who had what going on in their work to decide who is using leave. There are times where I am very busy, and it would not be good for me to take leave. Othertimes, it would be easier for than for my wife.

He makes more . But... has a lot more years of experience on me. Although, he will more than likely always make more than me. For reasons all throughout this thread. Which is slightly unfair, I will admit.

His current position in his company is actually more demanding than mine - mine is more flexible.

Guess I'll be taking care of snot nosed kids in the future.

ladies have to take off a buttload of time for sick kids as well

and leave early to pick up a kid who got sick at school, take an elderly parent to the doctor, stay home and wait for the cable guy, window install guy, etc., pick the kids up after school, make sure they get to day care before it closes so that don't have to pay whatever the extra charges are.

You frickers should be paying us more just so you don't have to do all that shite.
