Use google I aint doing the work for you woman.

Paid leave for having kids isnt a US law, it is done by company to company unlike many foreign countries.

If you don't think that factors into pay then I don't know what to say.

Literally no one has argued against that.

quote:

'd bet a shite ton a money that the ratio of days taken by women for maternity leave far exceeded those of men taking paternity whether paid or unpaid.

No one argued that either.

quote:

Having a law that allows the same 12 weeks of unpaid leave doesn't take away from the fact that men tend to miss less time from work than women.

No one also argued that.

Well I'm not the one that made (or agreed with) a statement implying only women take off to take care of sick kids.

Its like this person doesn't live int he real world.

We'e already had people talk about the disparity in paid time off for kids when it is men versus women.

I've worked for two real world companies. My wife has for one. All three of them give women more paid maternity leave than men for paternity.

It's not some shocking revelation.

He gets into arguments on this site all the damn time. He does it on every board, even the food board nonstop. Whats annoying is that he will take one little thing you say and latch on to it and beat it into the ground, regardless of whether it helps his case or not.

He seems like a very miserable person

I don't have kids... but when we do, I would hope my husband would take off equally as much time as I do if they are sick. I don't think it would be fair for me to always be the one taking off work.

I would not expect him to take off as much maternity leave as myself (since his man-boobs don't produce milk, wouldn't make much sense). BUT... sure would be nice to transition that role to him if I needed to.

Honestly wtf are you arguing? Seriously.

Are you saying companies give men and women the same time off if they have kids? You keep asking for proof. People in the real world have already stated this as fact.

That really wasn't the point of why I brought that up.

well what was your point?

You said if you took 12 weeks off and did the same job you did before and were fired you would have a great lawsuit.

Two men work the same job, same pay, and are both very good employees. Company has to cut back for whatever reason. Lets say reduction of force. Do you think the company would keep the guy who shows up to work on a more consistent basis than the one who doesn't?

I dont think we are talking about whether he would take off as much to help, more-so whether or not he could take that time off.

So you are telling me women do not take off work for sick kids more often than men?

or are you gonna ask me to look up stats proving it?

either way it's a dumb argument for anyone that has been in the workforce for more than a couple months

In my experience this is a rarity.

Any attorneys in here? It's not like this a new question, shouldn't there be a simple answer? Or does it vary with company policy?

If companies can get away with paying women less, and women say that they work the same amount as men. Why higher men at all? You could save a lot of money by just employing women.

Yes I see women getting the sick kids more often. But my job/position is just as important to me as his is to him. Why should I have to take away from my work and not he?

Hopefully we will see eye to eye on this one
