There's a few new places downtown. Kitchen on George is also good.
Battleship is a good place to spend an afternoon.

Felix's, Ed's and The Blue gill all have great food on the causeway. Avoid the Oyster House like the plague; it's nothing more than a clip joint for tourists and the food is pretty bad as far as local seafood goes. Cobalt is worth the drive if you don't mind driving to Orange Beach and if you like quiet, fine dining then Jesse's in Magnolia Springs has dry aged prime beef.

Skip all three places and head to Original Oyster House. Get the whole fried flounder and gumbo. No reason to drive 1.5 hours to eat at Cobalt. Same with Jesse's.
