Going to take a weekend excursion up to Madison tomorrow. Anyone been and want to recommend something in particular? Right now we plan to check out State Street, walk around campus and see Camp Randall and grab a beer at New Glarus Sunday before heading back.
Any ideas welcome!

I went twice for Halloween on State Street...Extremely wild. Knew a guy that let us walk onto the field at Camp Randall, right after a game.
Being touristy, just go to the lakes, eat at State Street Brats, and visit the capital.
But in all reality, just walk around downtown and campus, and pick a bar and get drunk.

I think goldenbadger lives out that way. Set up an IRL with him.

I spent $300 on cheese last time I went to WI.
And it was worth it.

Wear your game day gear, get sauced, and walk around tiger baiting all the UW fans.

Oh fried cheese curds are definitely happening. When we went to Miller Park for an O's-Brewers game they sold fried cheese curd canoes. Just a boat of cheese curds. It was delicious.
I plan on going full fat-boy while I'm there.

I currently live in Madison.
First off, if you're looking for good beer hit up Karben 4. It's a local brew pub on the east side of Madison. It has been open for less than 2 years, but it is already hugely popular in the area and is quickly gaining steam on some of the more established breweries in the area. The food is awesome as well.
If you're looking to stick around downtown, I'd recommend the Old Fashioned for the best cheese curds in town in addition to a crazy beer selection. It has made a couple of appearances on Food Network ('The Best Thing I Ever Ate' and 'Sandwich King'). The Great Dane Brew Pub is another large, well known brewery/restaurant that has never disappointed me. The Memorial Union Terrace is also a cool place to sit by the lake, watch some music, and have a few beers. If you're a pizza fan, make sure to hit up Ian's Pizza while you're downtown as well.

This is the correct answer. Best place to eat in Madison.
Ale Asylum is good. Captial Brewery has one of my favorite brews in the Amber.
Cheese is everywhere, so it's easy to find.
If you can, hit the Terrace at the UW Student Union. It will be packed, but it's a good time. Fridays and Saturdays usually have live music.

You gotta go to the farmers market at the capital and get some of stella's fresh made cheese bread, you can thank me later
But the answer to all your questions is at the farmers market
If you have time stop by the spotted cow brewery right outside Madison for a good time.

Fine recommendation. The farmer's market is quite the spectacle.
Also, keep in mind that The Old Fashioned doesn't take reservations. So if you go during peak time, expect a 30 minute to 1 hour wait.

You could drive up to Baraboo and see Foremost Farms. Monona has a Red Robin.
That's all I have.
