The cop car pulling up needs to be an "In" gif.
Why did they pull up like that? Wtf

If you say so, I've heard differently from older, retired police officers who resented the Los Angeles attitude that crept into officer training courses. All the new cops wanted to be like the cool kids in LA with their black uniforms (dark blue), tac vests, shaved heads, tattoos and wraparound glasses. RAMPAGE was all the rage. They forget that most of those guys are doing fed time these days for corruption, dereliction of duty, strong arm robbery, drug trafficking, etc.
You also have to remember that all departments are different and have different training and cultures. One of the things that attracted me to my department was how they treated victims and how many officers they lost to Fed jobs. That told they cared and that they had excellent training.

frick yeah it does. Faith in law enforcement is at an all time low.

Damn, I actually wasn't expecting it to go down like that.
It's like the cops drove up, jumped out of the car and shot him all in one motion.

This is how I've put it together...
Cops get dispatch call( hazy details, only know that suspect is in the park and has what looks to be a gun)
Cops drive to the park and notice a boy under a pavilion who they need to make aware of the current situation( bc NOONE would ever roll up on ANYONE with a gun the way they did which tells me they didn't initially peg him as the suspect)
Cops see this kid now walking up to their car and lifting his shirt and in an instant the passenger cop realizes" oh shite.... This kid we came to warn to gtfo of the park is actually our suspect"
Draws gun and fires.

Well, the description given was very specific -- down to the camo hat and gray jacket with black sleeves.

Can you document that?

As I would be willing to bet no posters were directly involved with the 911 call or dispatching officers, that question, his statement, your original statement, and most of this thread is completely irrelevant

Or what if he was raising his shirt to show the cops he was only packing a pellet gun. Kid might've wanted to be a cop and was showing them his toy for all we know.

I'm not sure you know what this word means.

Yea I am. Are you going to be on the jury? Is the other poster going to be on the jury? Or otherwise involved with the legal proceedings?
If not, your collective opinions are completely irrelevant.

And you know what? You might be right. But he is the only one who knows that's it's a BB gun. Is the cop supposed to assume it's not a real gun?

Excuse me, I thought we were throwing out hypotheticals.
Posted on 11/27/14 at 12:51 am to Boats n Hose
Everything being discussed is relevant to the OP.
And as of now everything is hypothetical bc it hasn't been investigated yet. That's what discussion boards are for. To discuss.

So, he waves a gun around at people. Cops pull up and he reached into his pocket and pulled out the gun. Am I missing something? Did the gun look obviously fake?

Wtf. You just presented a hypothetical.

That looks just like a real gun. A "toy" pellet gun? Are pellet guns toys? I'm confused.
Posted on 11/27/14 at 12:59 am to Grizzley
That was my point. I saw other hypotheticals so I presented mine. You're thinking too hard.
