The people who were shot, and the families of the victims who were killed Tuesday night should file civil lawsuits against the city of New Orleans and Mayor Landrieu. My reason for saying this is with the extreme manpower shortage in NOPD, the 100+ officers deployed around City Park Tuesday night obviously had to come from other surrounding districts. Their absence allowed criminals to have more opportunities to commit crimes if such a large amount of manpower wasn't diverted to a statue removal. I hope someone lays a huge lawsuit on the city.

Thugs will be thugs no matter how many cops are around. I highly doubt they worry how many cops are near befir raising a gun, turning that sum bitch sideways and unloading

People keep saying this, but it's not like the cops would have stopped anything.. do they stop murders and shootings when they're on patrol?

The murder rate says NO

It probably would have resulted in a higher police presence.

If there was no rise in crime then you're wrong. Also if all these were off duty, you're wrong.

I don't give a shite about these monuments, but the hot air being blown from both sides is pretty annoying. Give it a rest

Yep. Their 'presence' definitely stops shootings

NO talent isn't like a movie and they're sitting listening to scanners and watching cops before they do crime. It's heat of the moment, angry over a drug spot, anger over a woman, disrespect, or just for the frick of fricking shite up!

Even worse than that, the victims families prob expect and have an idea that their member is riding on thin ice with the maker.

The causal connection is extremely speculative

That would actually be a pretty interesting discussion...

Either:
1. Mayor has to admit they were "off duty" which means they were being paid OT, yet another direct contradiction of The Bitch's statement of "no public funds being used".
2. The court has to admit that a police presence does nothing to curtail crime, and sets a precedent for personal firearm protection. A common statement used by the left in 2nd amendment discussions is that a high police presence has a considerable impact on crime and that the need for firearms for personal protection is overrated.
