Make sure to get a Maple Creamy while you're there. They are the shite.

***Lots of places sell them. They are not all created equal, but all are pretty good. Ask around and the locals will tell you where to go for the best ones.

Leaf watching depends on weather. Today feels like fall for the first time. Still a little early despite the goddamn leaves all over the '69 Mustang I just washed yesterday.

The big thing around here, for whatever reason, is Heady Topper beer but their place is not open to the public.

Otherwise, Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro.

It's a beautiful state. We spent better part of a week there last year.

I really like Waterbury. Some of the best craft beer bars in the country are packed into a roughly one block area. Prohibition Pig is the must stop in that area. It's a fantastic gastro pub.

Downtown Burlington near the square is a great area too. Several breweries and farm to table type establishments.

If you are a casual craft beer drinker you'll find all you need in Burlington and Waterbury. If you are a serious craft beer fan then the pilgrimage to Hill Farmstead Brewery is a must.

Heady Topper is the most famous beer in the area and people go crazy for it. Be sure to have at least one. For many years it was considered the best beer ok the planet. If you want a break from beer be sure to hit Citizen Cider in Burlington for locally produced hard ciders.

Finding scenic overlooks won't be hard. A day cruise of Lake Champlain is nice too.

Cheers...

The drive to Mount Snow up a winding road with a creek running on side of it is beautiful.

The entire state is a postcard for leaf watching at the right time. If you get to Manchester stay at the Inn at Manchester. Frank and his wife are the owners. The Battenkill River, one of the most famous fly fishing rivers on the planet is near Manchester. Frank has a friend that is a fishing guide and knows the fiver. Orvis has a huge store there and their rod making facility is directly behind their store. You can't miss the store - large log cabin with large stained glass window of a brown trout.
Whoever mentioned maple syrup know what they're talking about. I've forgotten the towns name but Jim and Josie Amaden make great syrup and just might show you their sugar shack (where they make the syrup).
Wish I was going with you.

Otter Creek Brewing Co.

Magic Hat

Harpoon

in that order.

Also, if you're near Middlebury/Vergennes (no idea why you would be here), head to the Red Mill. They're open late and it is a bunch of different employees from the Basin Harbor Club hanging out, they're all from different countries (Bulgaria, Russia, South Africa, England, Germany, etc.) and they have the best after parties.

For scenery, anywhere. The state is absolutely gorgeous. I've spent a total of 18 summers in Vermont, and if you have time, you'll find shite to do.

Or, a two+ hour one-way drive from Manchester to Burlington. If a person was staying in Southern VT (like Manchester), I wouldn't suggest driving through Stowe, up through Smuggler's Notch, go west through Jericho/Underhill, and back to Exit #11 because it would take a full day to do that.

If someone was staying in Southern VT, I would suggest many nice and scenic areas to visit. Waterbury>Warren/Waitsfield>Middlebury/Lake Champlain>Southern VT is a nice drive with picturesque places to visit while not going that far north.
